Supported housing has a trust problem. Too many providers talk about safeguarding, standards and care — and too few can actually show their working. We built New Place Homes the other way round.
Before we housed a single resident, we had already:
- Assessed every property against a rigorous suitability and locality standard — not just “is this house available,” but is it right for the specific people we intend to place there.
- Written and tested every policy ourselves, rather than adapting a generic template.
- Built independent oversight into our structure from day one, not bolted on for appearances.
- Mapped the local services, risks and support pathways around every property before a single referral was made.
- Formed direct working relationships with local authorities, built on evidence rather than promises.
That's not a slogan. It's the order we did things in.
And it's how we continue to operate.
We don't see ourselves as a provider to local authorities — we see ourselves as a partner:
- 24-hour support lines for residents, not office-hours cover with gaps.
- Digital logs residents can access directly to report issues, rather than routing everything through a call centre.
- Management information built for local authorities and probation services — detailed, concise, delivered on schedule, not just when asked.
- Complete transparency and an open-door policy at every stage of the relationship.
SHOW, DON'T TELL.
We're not interested in being the loudest voice in this sector. We're interested in being the one local authorities, funders and partners can actually check — line by line, document by document, decision by decision — and find exactly what we said was there.
That's not a value statement. It's how we operate.
